Eulogies Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt able to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has passed that I can finally put my grief into words," shared Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the production, adding that he cannot recall "a single day without laughter".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a distinct piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles judge ruled to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order issued a restriction on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the active case.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a official listing citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
After the killings, public personalities shared divergent responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing provocative remarks that were broadly criticized by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the detractors recently. Talking on his podcast, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disturbing" and remarked they demonstrated a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by proposing that an associate could have stepped in when the decision to weigh in on the passing was made.
