Australian police have suspended the hunt for a four-year-old child who has been missing in the outback for nearly several weeks, after renewed efforts proved unsuccessful to find any traces of the child.

The young boy was spotted playing outside his residence on a remote sheep station close to Yunta, about a significant distance from Adelaide, on September 27th.

His grandmother stepped away for about thirty minutes before checking on him, only to find the boy nowhere to be found, triggering one of the most extensive comprehensive missions in local past.

Police - who do not suspect criminal activity - say they will carry on investigating, but that the situation has become a "recovery mission".

Recently, police temporarily reduced the search, only to restart it on Tuesday alongside eighty defense personnel.

"Official authorities said authorities were looking a more extensive zone based on updated analyses from medical and search professionals, rather than any recent developments."
