At least 64 Killed in Rio de Janeiro's Largest Law Enforcement Operation on Organized Crime
No less than 64 people were killed in a police operation cracking down on the criminal organization Comando Vermelho in Rio de Janeiro's northern suburbs - the most extensive and fatal action in the Brazilian state's history.
Four police officers lost their lives during the police action in the Alemão and Penha districts, local authorities stated. In excess of 80 suspects were taken into custody.
